Beachbody: Day One

So, I’m doing the Beachbody “21 Day Fix”.

I didn’t realize how much the “Fix” word would actually come into play – until I started. I realized really quick how OFF my habits were. Don’t get me wrong, I’d “diet” or have a great exercising stint for a week or so… but then I’d fall back into old habits.

I realized that ever since I adopted my son, Jordan, I’ve become an emotional eater. I’ve never lived my life this way before – but somehow – when I couldn’t leave the house much because of his post traumatic stress when he first came, and then a following crash in my health, (I believe from stress from lots of things) I began to eat poorly. I needed food to pick up my energy, because after a year of horrible stuff and consequent hysterectomy, my iron levels were pretty much gone. I even heard the number THREE at one point. And when I eventually got my surgery, they had to give me two bags of blood before they’d even operate.

So, after having a lifetime of good health, I didn’t anymore. I had already given birth to five babies – and weighed less than when I even started. But now, it was different. My body needed help, and instead of fighting it in a healthy way – with the right foods – I gave up. The really unfortunate part of this is that my family suffered too, I believe. My husband is not a healthy… well anything 🙂 and I used to at least fight against it, but my will was gone.

So, after this brief history, you may have a small inkling to how important it was for me to become healthy again. I want to give my kids the tools they need to live a healthy life. At first when I saw Shakeology and the Beachbody program, I thought two of my daughters, Kinley and Sydney, would want to use it with me. So, we decided to jump in together!

At the end of day one, I was sold. Not because the shake was the best thing I’d ever tasted, even thought it’s great. Not because I thought I had time to make a million dollars as a coach, because I don’t. And not even because I hated the number on the scale, but I do. The BIGGEST reason I was sold was because at the end of the day, I looked around and saw all of my kids exercising with me and shopping with me at the grocery store, picking healthy foods. We were learning together, and although I may be a little late – I am not giving up.

Life is about pushing forward, through weakness…. so here we go!

Beach Body

Here I am, with wet hair, getting ready for work and getting 5 kids to school in the morning. The first day was not easy, but it was worth it.

21 Day Fix

And Kinley… and our bulldog, Miss Marley, trying to get in on the action. Kinley got in trouble for not cleaning up my desk before she took this picture, but whatever. It is what it is… and this was a bill day.

I’m just proud of them, and honestly – I’m proud of the direction we are going together as a family.

If you want to jump in and join our family journey to health, let me know. I’m sure most of you have heard of P90X or Insanity? It’s the same company, and they have a ton of videos you can do at home, together. Oh, and the shakology is their yummy breakfast shake. It’s hard in the winter in Utah to get out and be as active outside, so it’s a great way to still get in the workout. The video I’m doing now is only 30 minutes a day.

Stay tuned for the journey! AND the Insanity Max 30 Sale launched yesterday, if you want to go crazy NOW! Don’t wait until January, stop the 10 pounds before they get here 🙂

xoxo

  • Oh Janae, so sorry you have been having health problems. I have been going through a lot this year too, in fact, low iron was part of it. Or rather, no iron (I was a zero). Luckily iron infusions were able to help and things are looking up. I should have a hyster too, but I am trying to avoid it if possible (even though my huge fibroid makes me look 5 months pregnant).

I hope that this helps you get back to feeling better though! Good day to start too after all those amazing treats last night. 🙂ReplyCancel

    • Aimee,
YES! You get it! I had severe fibroids, too. They caused a lot of problems. I didn’t have a full hysterectomy – so at least my hormones won’t be affected as much as they could have been. Overall, I feel like the surgery saved my life in a lot of ways. I can actually function and exercise, which wasn’t very easy while having a period for over a solid YEAR. I’m so happy to move on and become healthy again. It’s taken me a year until after my surgery to feel like I’m back healthy enough to handle it. xo Thanks for coming to the FUN party!!ReplyCancel
