Dance Parties

We love dance parties at my house. They are a great way to get some wiggles out or get some exercise when it’s cold outside. It’s also a great activity when my kids are complaining that there is nothing to do. The best part is my husband and I love them just as much as the kids do.

I know a lot of families have dance parties, but here are a few ways to change it up a bit.

Give your kids a ribbon or piece of crepe paper tied to a stick and let them dance with it. They will come up with some great dance moves to get the ribbon dancing too.

This is one of my favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. Now that is some serious dancing!

Here is twist on a dance party that adds some education and additional exercise. Cut circles out of construction paper and write numbers on the circles. Turn on music and dance around the room, when the music stops find a circle and stand on it. Figure out what number is on the front, if your child can’t identify numbers yet draw or glue something on the circle that is the same number that is written on it so they can count them. Then turn the card over and have directions for something else they have to do (4 jumping jacks, wave your arms 10 times, kick your leg 7 times, etc.). My boys thought this was awesome and they had a lot of fun.

Oh, and frequent dance parties will make your kids the highlight at wedding receptions for years to come. No promises on this one, but it has worked for us! 🙂

Have fun!

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of Sam. It’s SOO AWESOME! But these are great ideas. And they are definitely the most unique kids to watch when it comes to their dance moves.ReplyCancel

That’s too cute, and too funny about being a hit at receptions. At least something can be entertaining at a reception! (Let’s be honest, receptions, particularly in Utah, are uber boring.)ReplyCancel
