How to Make a 2 ingredient All-Natural Facial Peel

Skin damage can happen in any number of ways. For me, it’s the dry winter air and too many hot baths. My skin quickly gets dried out and starts to flake, especially on my face. Aging, sun damage, and dry air can also cause all sorts of problems for the skin on your face. Brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles, flaky skin, and acne can occur easily if we don’t take a few precautions. Here are some tips to help you avoid skin damage, as well as one of my favorite recipes for an all-natural, homemade facial peel to brighten up your skin.

How to make a 2 ingredient all natural facial peelPrevention is the Best Treatment:

While there are certainly skin problems that come along with aging, some of them can be prevented with a little extra care. Protect your skin from the sun by using a daily moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15. Be sure to apply this a half hour before going outside and reapply every two hours on very sunny days. Use stronger SPFs on your forehead, shoulders, chest, neck and ears, as these areas get the brunt of the sun’s rays. While it might be a pain, you can prevent a lot of skin damage (and protect yourself from skin cancers), by taking this extra step every day.

Your Diet is Important:

Your diet has a big influence on your skin and how it ages. A healthy diet is not only good for your body, it’s great for your skin. If you’re a fan of fish, keep it up! The fatty acids in fish help keep your skin strong and elastic. If you want to keep away brown spots and wrinkling, consume plenty of veggies and leafy greens. Not only will these give you sustained energy, but the antioxidants can do wonders for your skin. For a snack, munch on some nuts or slice up an avocado. Non-saturated oils are wonderful for pliant, healthy skin. Also, be sure to stay hydrated and cut out as much processed sugar as you can. You’ll start feeling better and your skin will look great!

Visit a Professional:

This all-natural facial peel I’m going to share with you can make your skin feel and look great! It sloughs off dead skin and can clear up a lot of moderate skin issues. But if you have more serious problems, you should consider skin rejuvenation from a professional like Barr Facial. A professional will be able to develop an individually tailored treatment for your skin. These treatments are non-invasive and provide dramatic results, giving you smoother, healthier skin.

Homemade facial peel:

Here is my tried and true all-natural, homemade facial peel. This should be applied once a month for best results.

You’ll Need:
1 tbsp of powdered gelatin (or agar agar, if you are uncomfortable with gelatin)
1 ½ tbsp of milk
A microwave safe bowl (and a microwave)

As a word of warning, this mixture needs to be applied to your skin while it’s hot. Test it on your hand before putting it right on your face to make sure you don’t get burned. Also, for best results, wash your face beforehand. The peel works best on clean skin.

Mix the gelatin and milk in a microwave safe bowl. They will mix very quickly and will have the consistency of flour and water. Place in the microwave for 15-20 seconds on high. When you take the mixture out, its consistency should be a lot smoother. Beware, it will probably smell! If you’d like, add a couple drops of an essential oil (after it’s been heated), to mask the smell.

Once you take the mixture out of the microwave, you want to quickly apply it with a spatula to your face. This mixture will stick to the fine hairs on your face, especially the ones on your cheeks, so it’s a good idea to focus only on the areas that need help, like your nose, forehead, and chin.

Let the mixture harden and dry for 30-45 minutes. Try not to make any facial expressions during this time so the mask can dry evenly. After it’s finished hardening, slowly peel it off. If you have fair skin, your face may be red for awhile, but regardless, you skin will be smooth and soft.
