Ways to keep your skin looking young

When we were young, all we wanted was to be older. We were anxious to start driving, to start dating, to move out, go to college, start our careers. But as weโ€™ve gotten older, there are so many things we wish we could go back to. It was so much easier when you were young and ignorant, no bills to pay, not worrying about advancing in your career, or relationship woes. No matter how much we wish we could go back just for a little while to live stress free, we can do our best to reverse time with our health routines.

Itโ€™s an inevitable part of growing up and getting older; we get wrinkles. With the high-stress lifestyles that most people have adopted, itโ€™s no surprise that more and more people are showing signs of aging younger. No one wants that! Luckily, there are a few things you can do to minimize wrinkles and age spots to look years younger, without having to get surgery. Surgery is expensive, invasive, and you donโ€™t have any sort of guarantee of how well it will work. If it goes badly, or doesnโ€™t turn out the way you wanted, thereโ€™s no way to reverse it, and youโ€™ll have to live with that for the rest of your life. Here are some non-invasive ideas to keep your face looking healthy and young.

Ways to keep your skin looking healthy and young:

Chemical peels

If youโ€™re wanting to permanently remove your wrinkles and sunspots, rather than just trying to cover them up with concealer, you should try a chemical peel. A chemical peel is a non-invasive facial that uses a chemical to remove your top layer of skin. By removing this layer of skin, youโ€™re removing all of the imperfections that came with it! The recovery is relatively short, and not very painful. Your skin will look tighter and younger immediately after your peel.

At-home wrinkle remedies

If a chemical peel doesnโ€™t sound appealing to you, or youโ€™re more of a Do-It-Yourself type of person, there are still plenty of things you can do to try to minimize the wrinkles on your skin. Doing regular face masks at home will help reverse acne scars, fill wrinkles, and tighten the skin on your face. There are lots of mud masks and other masks you can purchase at beauty stores and even the drugstore. Make sure to read the ingredients really well before purchasing, because youโ€™ll want to put only natural ingredients on your face. If you canโ€™t understand what any of the ingredients in your mask are, chances are you might not want to actually put them on your face! But the best idea is to look up the masks before buying them, to see who else has had success using them, and to ensure theyโ€™re safe and effective.ย

You can also make face masks at home! Usually, you can do it just with ingredients in your kitchen. Try making a matcha face mask at home, which naturally tightens the skin, because of the caffeine and antioxidants in the powder. People also love moisturizing avocado or oatmeal, or egg-white masks which tone and tighten.

Prevent more skin damage

If you could go back in time and tell your younger self to take care of their skin better, wouldnโ€™t you? Donโ€™t make the same mistake moving forward! Even if youโ€™ve never taken good care of your skin, itโ€™s not too late to start. Implement a manageable skin care routine. Make sure you wash your face every single day, especially if youโ€™ve worked out, and always wash off your makeup before going to sleep. Another super important part of skin care is to make sure you moisturize! Dry skin wrinkles more easily. Pick a good quality, natural moisturizer. Apply it both morning and night for the best results. Use a gentle microdermabrasion exfoliant every single day when you wash your face, and then use a stronger exfoliant once a week to really cleanse your skin.

The best kind of moisturizer will have sunscreen in it. If your moisturizer does not, either swap it out for one that does, or apply sunscreen after your moisturizer, before your makeup. The sun can do so much damage to your skin, so youโ€™ll want to be protected any time you leave the house, no matter the temperature. ย

Nutrition

One of the most commonly neglected parts of a skincare routine is diet. When our body is getting too much grease and sugar, it often manifests itself in our skin. Additionally, proper nutrition can help our skin heal itself and resist the signs of aging. Thatโ€™s why itโ€™s vital that you get a wide range of micronutrients and antioxidants, cut back on sugar, drink plenty of water, and eat omega-3 fatty acids found in fish.
