These owl cupcakes would be perfect for any fall party, Harry Potter themed party, Halloween party, or owl/woodland party.Â
As a little tip, you will get the best results by using double stuffed Oreos. I love the filling and they tend to pull apart easier with more filling in between the two cookies.
What Kind of Cupcake to Use?
Homemade cupcakes work great for these owls, but sometimes I just don’t have the time to do those extra few steps.
These owl cupcakes have a store bought base. I found 4 for $4.50 at Walmart and they worked great. Not to mention, I didn’t have all the dishes from making cupcakes waiting for me in the sink.
Either way you go, store bought or homemade, they will turn out just as cute!
Only 3 Ingredients for Owl Cupcakes
Cupcakes, Double Stuffed Oreos and Plain M&M candies. Yes it is that simple!
How to Make Owl Cupcakes
- Use store bought or homemade frosted cupcakes. Any white or brown cupcake will do.
- Twist apart Oreos with one side being the plain cookie and the other side with the filling.
- Cut or break apart the plain cookie part of the Oreo in half. These will be used as the eyebrows.
- Use one brown M&M on the cream part of the Oreo for the eye.
- Place the two on top of the cupcake to make eyes.
- Use a yellow, orange or red M&M between the eyes for the nose.
- Place the half of the plain Oreo side above the eyes to use
- Use some sticks for decorate around the owl for that extra cuteness.
How to Display the Cupcakes
While I was making these cupcakes, I sent the kids outside to get some twigs to give them that rustic look. I think it made them look even cuter to plate them with the twigs.
If you are making these for a Harry Potter Birthday party, you can skip the twigs and display them with some type of bird cage.
