Under the Sea activities for kids is apart of a Summer learning series. There are a bunch of topics with the summer learning series to help kids learn, have fun and explore.

We live close to a spectacular aquarium in Utah. The kids love to go and see all of the beauty of watching the fish swim and the crabs do their walk. It is beautiful and magical and fun.

15 Under the Sea Art Projects

These envelope sharks are a fun under the sea activity for kids. They get to do multiple steps to create these gray google eye sharks. Definitely a favorite thing to do at our home for shark week.

This variation of a paper plate fish has colorful construction paper scales like a rainbow fish.

Paper plate turtles would be a fun way to use some rocks or pebbles from a rock collection.

I love this seahorse made with shaving cream!

The possibilities are endless with these cute jellyfish.

Okay, how stinking cute is this paper towel roll octopus from Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas!? I want to make one today!

A cute little fishbowl, that is also easy to make.

I found a lot of different starfish art projects, but I loved how they added cheerios to these starfish to replicate the texture on them.

Another under the sea activity for kids are these easy and adorable crab hand prints with google eyes.

This shark flowerpot makes me so happy. I love it! You could even use paper or styrofoam cups to make it cheaper and less likely to break.

My kids will go crazy for this easy and fun jellyfish cup. It is a fun way to practice tying knots which is awesome fine motor skill practice for writing and things like tying shoes independently.

This plastic bottle whale is made with a water bottle, pipe cleaners, foam pads and google eyes.

Visit an Aquarium

We are so lucky to live so close to an aquarium. Check out your area and take your kids to a close by aquarium. Here’s a peak of the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper, UT. If you live in the area, I suggest taking your kids, you won’t regret it.

Under the Sea Snacks

Goldfish crackers are our go to under the sea snacks. They come in lots of color variations and they are fun to eat.

Under the Sea Games

Under the sea activities for kids includes some fun parachute games from the Kusi Life blog.

All you need is:

a king or queen sized blue sheet
a favorite stuffed sea animal
friends

Invite some friends over for a fun play date and have them each bring their favorite stuffed sea friend.

“Just Keep Swimming” Game

Have all the children throw their sea animal onto the sheet and then take their place at the edge of the sheet.
Each child holds on to the edge of the sheet, make sure they are spread out so there are no big gaps for the animals to fall off.
Then make big waves by lifting the sheet up and down but try to keep the sea animals in the “water”. It is fun to hear the kids giggle as the animals go flying.

Under the Sea Game

Place all the sea animals under the sheet.
Make waves with the sheet, above the animals.
Send a child down to retrieve their animal one at a time.
See if they can hold their breath while diving down, adding urgency to getting in and out as quickly as possible.

Shark in the Water Game

Played similar to duck, duck, goose.

As the children are making waves above, one child (the “shark”) is under the “sea”.
The shark goes around the circle lightly dragging their hand across the legs of the other children (making the Jaws sound adds a little thrill to it all. du-dun, du-dun, dun-dun…)
The shark chooses it’s victim by grabbing the leg. The victim will then let go of the sheet and run around the outer part of the “sea”, the shark coming out to chase them.
The victim must get back to their spot before the shark tags them.
If they don’t make it back to their spot before being tagged, the victim becomes the new shark.
