I have been babysitting a little girl for the past few days. The first day she arrived I realized we don’t have very many girl toys so I decided to make some noodle necklaces. This is a fun activity for boys and girls and it is so easy to do. I only had one shape of pasta, but you can use macaroni, penne, or even wheels.
Put one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol and 4-5 drops of food coloring in a ziplock bag, add your pasta and shake until they are coated and colored.
Dry on paper towels. Repeat with multiple colors. We made blue, green, pink, and purple. Ours took less than an hour to dry.
Then string your noodles onto ribbon, string, or yarn. Tape the end to make it easier to string the noodles on. Then let the kids make their necklaces. So easy! Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of their finished projects. They looked so cute, and they thought they were awesome.
You can also use vinegar instead of the rubbing alcohol, just note that it takes quite a bit longer to dry, so dye the noodles the night before.
Have fun! I hope you are all staying warm and finding fun things to do to keep your little ones busy and entertained while it is so cold. Check out Camille’s post from yesterday if you need more ideas of what to do when it’s too cold to play outside.
