Some of my fondest memories of from when I was four. I remember feeling like the world was my oyster and I would get lost in hours of make believe play with my toys or running through the trees. Jayne is now almost five and I am literally watching her grow like a weed.
I remember my own mother begging me not to get any older and as a child wondering why on earth she always asked me such a ridiculous question. Now as a mother, I totally get it. When I found out I was having a girl I was over the moon. I have always had a close bond with my own mother and she has been a best friend to me my whole life. I would share my secrets with her, play with her, and be inspired by her creativity and zeal for life. I had visions of what motherhood would be like with my own daughter and so far it has been pretty dang good. Yes, my girl is more emotional than my boys and she may shed more tears, but she brings such a unique joy and light to our home. She can often be found singing made up songs at the top of her lungs and playing barbies rather enthusiastically in a way that you’re sure she must be speaking with someone across the room. She prays for her imaginary friends every night “Cinna and Shuckalacka” and she has so much love to give.
Another fun thing about having a girl? She loves to shop with me! Recently I took her on a Mommy and me date. We went to the new Charlie Brown movie, candy store, jewelry store, and did a little shopping. She kept exclaiming over and over, “We look darling!”, as she tried on a new necklace or headband. It was so much fun. We decided to get matching black boots because baby it is getting cold outside! I loved these boots we found from Payless that come in women’s and little girls sizes. She was so excited to have boots just like mine! If you read my post earlier about holiday shopping with Payless you know that they have so many varieties of shoes for all different occasions! I will be sharing a “Christmas Party” look with you next and I cannot wait! I think you’ll love it.
