Meet Janae

Oh my, where to start?

Me llamo Janae.  I am a blog lovin’ , water skier, wanna be photographer, reader, music addicted, hiker, horrible cooker, community activistick, outdoors enthusiastic, kitchen dancing, new shoes adoring, perpetual decorating, vintage jewelry wearing, usually distracted, sandwich eatin’, dreamer minded, taxi driving, entrepreneurial hearted, child rearing mother of six girls and one adopted son.

Say that three times fast.

I have been blogging pretty regularly for about three years over at Pink Moss.  I find peace, happiness, and cheap therapy through sharing my random thoughts with the world wide web.  I sometimes wonder why it took me a blog to really start looking into my soul, but there you have it – it did.  It began as a little project, to record our family pictures and story – but it became so much more.  I have shared all sorts of posts…

Some Funny

Some Serious

Other times Random

Or Reflective

Even A Little Too Personal

You never quite know what you will get, and neither do I.  I believe that my crafting, hair doing, clothes buying, decorating side will come out here more than it does on Pink Moss.  I have high hopes to start an online boutique, linked from this blog, if all goes as planned.

I  will be continuing my blogging over at my place, but will make a regular stop here at “My Mommy Style”, every Thursday until I die.  No pressure.  You see, my sister Camille and I have talked about beginning some kind of adventure together for about a year now.  Nothing felt quite right, until she called me last week and had the idea to start this blog – inspired by our little group that meets four times a year, on the equinox/solstice.  I jumped on board, and began designing a word press blog to challenge myself – because that is what I do.

I feel a little giddy, to have these darling gals to create with.  Heaven knows, I am way too *fly by the seat of my pants* to post 7 days a week on my own.  It’s almost like our readers (you) will get to crash into 7 homes at once.  You can read about cooking for your family, from someone who may know how to accomplish that sort of thing.  You may behold, and copy some fabulous craft, if that tickles your fancy.  You will most assuredly read 7 different ways to survive this thing called life – whether through words, fun new styles, pictures of travels, skin care ideas, or tips on painting your nails like cheetah fur when you need a distraction, because you feel like ripping your hair out.

I have a darling husband, called Jon.

He is a supportive, kind, intense, giving, business brained, man – that gives his all every day, to serve the people he loves.  We met at college one day after our 8:00 in the morning math class.  He slept on his desk in the back three times before he walked up and said, “Hey, do you wanna go water skiing?”  And that was it.  He had me hook, line, and sinker.  Water Skiing is a major love for me, and he was cute, and my roommates were boring.  It was a match made in heaven, that has taken us through well….    a lot.  We are stronger for our challenges, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Our littles are ages 3-19.  *Yes, I am definitely the Granny of the group, possibly in need of a jazzy sometime soon*.

I have a step daughter Sydney,  a.k.a. Rooz (and son in law Briant)

a daughter Kinley, a.k.a. Mackaroochie

a daughter Whitney, a.k.a. Noo Noo

a daughter Brighton, a.k.a. Bee

a daughter Ella, a.k.a. Bean

a daughter Halle, a.k.a. Bug

and the stork dropped off a Jordan – a.k.a.- Handsome, a nickname given by his birth mom and Nana.

The estrogen levels in our home, are nothing less than frightening.  Life is a funny thing. It throws you around, knocks you out, leaves you breathless, and somehow sets you softly back on your feet again when you least expect it.  I believe that we as women, are a powerful force for good in the world.  I truly hope “The Solstice Sisters” is a place that we can all come to relax, enjoy each other, and build relationships.  I have made many amazing online friends over the years, and I have no doubt that THIS my friend, is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

love your other blog Janae “Pink Moss” so I am excited to see what you “sisters” do with this. Your posts are as good as a good novel. And I LOVE novels. It also gives Chanetell and I things to laugh about together. “The Forgotten Carrols” evening we laughed so hard over the phone about it. Good Luck to all of you. See you in your posts.
