Creating this Fluffy Slime with Glitter is just as fun as playing with it. Keep your kids busy for hours with this easy five step recipe.
Fluffy Slime with Glitter
Have you ever seen anything as pretty as this pink Fluffy Slime? My kids just can’t stop playing with it and I just can’t stop starring at it. The Glitter is just so mesmerizing.
We had a blast making this fluffy slime – it was the perfect activity for the kids when we are stuck inside.
Occupational Therapy Recommends
Playing with fluffy slime helps develop small muscle control, hand-eye coordination and strengthens the muscles in your child’s fingers, hands and wrists, which is important for helping them learn how to write and use scissors.
Fluffy Slime also helps develop creativity, imagination and problem solving.
Sensory Play with Fluffy Slime
My son is a sensory seeker. It means he loves to touch everything. It helps calm and it helps keep his focus. This fluffy slime is so pretty to look at; plus it’s squishy and stretchy. Kids can’t keep their hands off of it.
Tactile activities like making slime and playing with slime is great for the senses. For most kids, fluffy slime can be a relaxing and regulating activity.
What Age is Slime Appropriate For?
It’s true slime can be very messy, but this fluffy slime tends to stick together better than normal slime.
Sensory play is great starting around the toddler years all the way up to older kids.
What You’ll Need to Make Fluffy Slime
Originally, this slime recipe called for white Elmer’s glue. I searched everywhere for it, but no such luck. However, I came across this beautiful pink glitter glue.
Glitter glue comes in all kinds of colors from blue, pink, purple, green and so on. I’m so happy I couldn’t find the white glue because I think this turned out so much better with pink glitter.
Here are the ingredients you will need to make your fluffy slime. I’ve also included some links to amazon if you don’t want to go to five stores like I did looking for glue.
- 1 cup of Barbasol Original Shaving Cream
- 1 bottle of Elmers Glitter Glue (6 oz) – your color of choice
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon of Borax
- 3-6 drops of Eye Contact Solution
How to Make Fluffy Slime in 5 Easy Steps
- Squeeze 1 bottle of Elmers Glitter Glue (6 oz) into a bowl.
- Stir in 1 cup of Barbasol Original Shaving Cream.
- Stir in 3-6 drops of Eye Contact Solution.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1 tsp Borax with 1 cup of warm water.
- Add 2-3 tsp of Borax solution (Borax+water) slowly to your mixed glue and shaving cream, knead slime until it no longer sticks to your hands. Dispose of remaining solution.
Step By Step with Photos to Make Fluffy Slime
Step 1: Add the glitter glue to a bowl. Plan on using this bowl to mix and knead the slime at the end.
Step 2: Measure and add 1 cup of Barbasol original shaving cream.
Step 2 continued: Mix both ingredients together. You may want to also put down some newspaper or plastic to protect your beautiful runner on your table…we forgot that part!
Step 3: Add about six drops of contact lens solution. This helps the slime not be so sticky when it is done. This also helps the glitter to not flake off from the slime.
Step 4: Add one teaspoon of Borax to 1 cup of warm water in a separate bowl. Stir until the borax has disintegrated. You can put this water-Borax solution in a squirt bottle or just spoon it onto your slime. I’ve even seen some people use the empty glue bottle as a squirt bottle for the Borax.
Step 5: Spoon 1 tsp at a time of the Borax + Water solution onto the slime. You will reach the right consistency at 2 1/2 to 3 tsp. Stir with the wooden spoon first, then transfer to kneading by hand. You will NOT use all of the Borax Solution.
Step 5 tips: When first kneading, it will be sticky. You know it needs more Borax solution if that is the case. Add the Borax + water solution until the slime no longer sticks to your fingers or the bowl. Be careful to add slowly because too much borax will cause the slime to break and not be as squishy.
Finishing Up: This is what the slime will look like when it no longer sticks to the bowl.
Optional Step, but highly recommended: Put your slime into a sealed tupperware and let it set up overnight. These cool bubbles will form on top that are fun to pop, but your slime ends up the perfect consistency if you leave it overnight.
Finished Product
As you can see it just plops right out of the tupperware. It’s no longer sticky and the glitter stays in place (for the most part).
So pretty and awesome to play with!
How to Store Your Slime:
Keep the Fluffy Slime stored in that sealed tupperware container or a storage ziplock bag. It will last 3-6 months with properly putting it away after you or your kids are finished playing with it.
