A few days ago I decided to take a basket of fresh apricots from our tree to my friend. I knew she was going to be having her baby any day and might appreciate having some fresh fruit around the house. Well, I knock on her door and she answers…while having a contraction. She was in labor and I felt awful and tried my best to hand her the fruit, wish her luck, and get on my way. She is a way kinder person than most because she invited me in to gift me with a huge bag of amazing frozen cherries. I might also be the worst person ever because I accepted the delicious cherries and walked away. I got to my car and couldn’t believe I just took a bag of cherries from a woman in labor. I have really awesome neighbors.
Anyway, I have made these cherry berry green smoothies every day since she gave me the cherries and they are amazing! The beautiful dark red of the cherries makes the green smoothies red which I think is awesome. They aren’t green or a weird shade of brown so if you are trying green smoothies to sneak some extra veggies to the kids this is the smoothie to start with.
Make sure when you make this smoothie that one of the fruits listed is frozen. I obviously used frozen cherries, but you could use frozen berries or frozen banana. Using a frozen fruit makes it so you don’t have to add ice. Also, I always use water in my smoothies because it’s free and always available, but you can switch that for coconut or almond milk, juice, or something else.
