Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Dates

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland May 31, 2019. For its Disney World counterpart, the open date is August 29, 2019. Because this is expected to be such a huge event for Disneyland; there are some guidelines for admission to Galaxy’s Edge, even after it opens. Luckily, I have all the details regarding Star Wars reservations, attractions and more from my friends at Get Away Today.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Reservations

For anyone who wants to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge between May 31 and June 23, 2019, no-cost reservations are required. As of May 2, 2019, reservations sold out via Disney’s website. So, the only way to get in to Galaxy’s Edge now is with a Disneyland Resort Hotel stay.

Reservation with a Disneyland Resort Hotel Stay: Any guests who stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels (Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, Disneyland Hotel or Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa) May 31 – June 23, 2019 will automatically receive a reservation for each person registered to the hotel room. Valid Disneyland admission is required, and one four-hour reservation will be assigned to each guest via Disney.

Remember, when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reservations are assigned, they cannot be modified. As of now, if you plan to visit Galaxy’s Edge after June 23, 2019, a reservation will not be required.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Play Disney Parks App

When you do arrive at Galaxy’s Edge, make sure you have downloaded the Play Disney Parks app. It will let you personalize your visit. Since Galaxy’s Edge exists on the planet Batuu, there will be a lot to explore and get familiar with on your visit! The Play Disney Parks app will help you translate foreign languages. It also helps locate hidden cargo throughout the planet and even interact with droids. This app will turn your smartphone into an intergalactic communications device in Galaxy’s Edge. Everything on the planet Batuu will be foreign to Earth, including the food!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Ride and Attractions

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge initially opens at the end of May, one of two new rides will open as well. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will take guests on an intergalactic smuggling mission. It will provide up to six seating options for various experiences. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is expected to open later in 2019. Rumor has it, it will be worth the wait. Rise of the Resistance will feature the most advanced technology Disney has ever used to create a ride. It’s sure to be a totally immersive experience!

In addition to the new rides, there will be a number of “outposts” in Galaxy’s Edge where you can have a souvenir experience. Instead of just walking into a shop and purchasing Star Wars themed merchandise, in some Galaxy’s Edge outposts you will make your own!

Light Sabers at Disney

Savi’s Workshop is your stop for crafting an authentic lightsaber. At this outpost you will be guided by the Gatherers to make your own lightsaber that you will be able to take home as a token from your visit to Batuu.

Droid Depot gives you an opportunity to choose from the BB or R-series droids from Star Wars and make your own. Once completed, your droid will have the ability to interact with other droids throughout Batuu!

Toydarian Toymaker features Zabaka the Toydarian, known for handmade toys and trinkets throughout Batuu. Find collectibles and more at this outpost in Galaxy’s Edge.

Other outposts will have merchandise for sale, but not like anything you’ve ever seen in Disneyland before. Again, the various outposts won’t just have sweatshirts, hats or toys stamped with Star Wars across the front. In Galaxy’s Edge you will find clothing that reflects the franchise. Find them in the form of First Order uniforms, Resistance gear or critters in the Creature Stall looking for new homes. For unique trinkets collected from across the galaxy, you should definitely stop by Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities or Jewels of Bith.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Dining

As mentioned, the food in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will not be typical Disneyland fare. Take a look at what you can expect:

Oga’s Cantina- Although known for its diverse crowd, Oga’s Cantina will be family friendly. It will serve bar snacks and drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages. Enjoy DJ R-3X spinning tracks while you grab a bite.

Ronto Roasters- Stop at Ronto Roasters for sandwiches and wraps prepared to perfection on a former smelter droid engine that’s been converted to an oven.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo- Savor the flavors from Chef Cookie Tubbs. Although you’ll find foreign names like braised shaak roast and fried endorian tip-yip, you’ll just be enjoying Batuu’s versions of pork, chicken and vegetarian dishes.

Milk Stand- If you’re familiar with the blue and green milk from the Star Wars franchise, you’ll find these drinks represented throughout Galaxy’s Edge. Thankfully, though, the Batuu versions will be dairy free, and in the form of refreshing smoothies.

Kat Saka’s Kettle- Perhaps the only slightly traditional Disney-esque food option in Galaxy’s Edge will be found at Kat Saka’s Kettle. This food vendor will offer a uniquely flavored kettle corn, which is a staple snack for most Disneyland guests.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, YES, Batuu will have its own version of Coke products.
