St. Louis Mac and Cheese

This St. Louis Mac and cheese recipe is a family favorite that you will definitely want in a regular rotation.

We even made a video to show you this recipe! It is easy to make and so delicious! This St. Louis Mac and Cheese is so creamy and delicious. Did you know St. Louis hold their own Mac and Cheese festival, it is held in March and celebrates this famous dish!

St. Louis Mac and Cheese

Delicious mac and cheese made with a smooth, creamy sauce. This mac and cheese family favorite is always a welcomed addition for lunch or at dinnertime. This recipe is a secret family recipe that has been passed through generations and now can be enjoyed in your own kitchen.

I love letting it cook for bit longer to let the cheese get nice and crispy along the edges of the crock pot. My favorite part about it is the pepper jack cheese. It gives it just enough of a kick of creamy, cheesy happiness.

This is a traditional mid-western Mac and cheese that can be made in the crock pot, cooked on high for 1.5-2 hours. After you have mixed all of the ingredients give the mixture a stir every 20-30 minutes to make sure you have no sticking and the ingredients are distributed well.

Keep in mind that you will want to prep this dish ahead of time to allow 2.5-3 hours of cooking time. It is well worth the wait.

  • 1 pound shells or macaroni
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 2 C cheddar cheese
  • 2 C pepper jack
  • 1/2 C cream cheese
  • 1/2 parmesan cheese
  • 3 C evaporated milk
  • 2 C milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 paprika
  • salt & pepper to taste
