Southern Utah must: Tuacahn Theatre

Taking your family on a trip to Southern Utah? a visit to Tuacahn theatre is a must do while you are there.

You know by now I am a a HUGE Disney fan. You can find Disney discounts, tips, and advice here! If you are able to add Tuacahn Theater to you list of must do’s you must! This is unlike anything else you can experience as a Disney enthusiast. The Tuacahn Theater is a partner with Disney and is therefore able to use proprietary songs, characters, and storylines from Disney.

Imagine my delight when I learned that Tuacahn developed, “When You Wish,” a show with Disney to spotlight the very best that Disney has to offer by mashing up characters and songs from all our Disney favorites. Songs featured come from Moana, Mulan, Tarzan, Hercules, Tangled, Princess and the Frog, Pocahontas, Snow White, Aladdin, and Mary Poppins. I love the storyline of a girl dreaming of all of her favorite Disney characters that help her to embrace her unique abilities and to not be scared. It truly was a beautiful performance and I cried a few times. I am a baby and truly tear up with music that inspires and lifts you up!

Amazing performances will bring tears to your eyes

Tuacahn produce 5 Broadway Shows each year and the three amphitheater shows run from the end of May through late October.  When the weather is especially hot in the Summer they will run a show in the Indoor Hafen Theatre. That runs July through mid-August. There’s also a winter Indoor show at Christmas that runs from the end of November up to Christmas.  All of the shows are self produced using professional actors, many who are Broadway veterans. Auditions are held over 1300 actors in NYC, LA, Vegas, SLC and locally to form a cast of about 60 actors for the 3 outdoor shows.  That same cast performs in all 3 Amphitheatre shows in repertory.  The Indoor shows each have separate professional casts. 

I was have seen many broadways shows and was blown away by the talent that exists among these actors/actresses. You can tell that they all LOVE what they are doing and they really bring the magic of Disney with them as they sing and perform.

Enjoy a Spring and Fall concert series at Tuacahn Theatre. It runs from mid March – early May and late Oct – mid November.  
Or turn up the magic by visiting during the Christmas Season when there is a Live Nativity. It’s run with volunteer casts that are different each night. It has a spectacular Christmas light display, Santa Claus, Ice Skating on a synthetic rink and a train ride.
Every Saturday year-round there is an outdoor Saturday Market with local craftsmen, artisans and entertainment.

Are little kids allowed at Tuacahn Theatre?

Depending on the show that you are planning to see there are different age requirements. Regardless of which show you are seeing there is a kids center available called “Show Care”. It makes it so that you can enjoy the show while your child plays! You can call the center and make reservations easily, click here for more information.

We did go to see “When you Wish” which is extremely kid friendly and very age appropriate for a three old. I knew my son would not sit through the whole show. With it starting at 8:30 I knew that would be an even bigger struggle for him. So I checked him into the kids center and it was awesome! It can be $15-$25 per child per show, but absolutely worth it!

Every show I have seen at Tuacahn Theatre has left me in awe. They flood the stage, use aerial entrances, or utilize multiple entrances for the actors to make an appearance. They will even utilize the unique backdrop of the red rock cliffs into the storyline if appropriate. A star strewn canopy set against the red rock cliffs is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen when experiencing live theater.

With the gorgeous red rock backdrop and bright blue skies I was in love. The amenities were so spacious and comfortable my kids didn’t want to go home.
