Fall is one of my favorite times of year because it is such a wonderful time to be outdoors! Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays ever, and Utah does not disappoint when it comes to family fun. Check out all of the Halloween fun in Utah in 2018!

To help you make the best family memories this season we have compiled a HUGE list of all the fun must do fall/Halloween activities to do here in Utah. 

Not local to Utah? Not to worry! Here are a few tips to be able to find fun where you live! 

 

  1. Check your local city website. A lot of them will have a calendar or special events section.
  2. Facebook! Did you know you can search for local family friendly events right from Facebook? Just click on “Events” over on the left hand side, and then click “Discover” then you can search for fun right in your area! 
  3. Use your library! Lots of libraries will have events going on, or will be a place where you can find info for more community things going on. 
  4. Don’t forget to check Groupon! 
  5. Word of Mouth. Ask around, put out a call on social media, see what friends are up to, and then get out and have some fun!

The Wizards Train- Heber Valley Railroad

Put on your robes and grab your wand and come and ride the Wizard’s Train. It departs at 7 pm and includes a 90 minute round trip. Costumed staff of popular characters will entertain you on board. Your ride includes getting sorted by the Sorting Hat, a chocolate frog, taking a chance with Bertie Botts Everyflavor Beans, and Butter Beer.


The PumpkinTrain– Heber Valley Railroad 

October 5-31


Your ticket includes a short 40 minute train ride where you will be entertained on board by costumed characters. You’ll also get to try a delicious pumpkin cookie. At the depot you can take a trip through our (family friendly) haunted car, and get a Halloween sticker. And of course you also get to select a pumpkin from our Pumpkin Patch and take it home with you!

Sleepy Hallow Haunted Wagon Rides– Midway

Enjoy an authentic horse drawn wagon ride through the woods of Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah as you listen to a colorful narration of Washington Irving’s original short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Be careful as the woods are rumored to be haunted and frequented by the apparition of the Headless Horseman!

Halloween Lift Rides- Sundance

Geared to be family friendly, the Halloween Lift Rides last 45 minutes to an hour and take place on Ray’s Lift. Fun games, hot chocolate, & snacks are for sale, as well as blankets for those who forget. Weather permitting, a complimentary halloween movie plays at the base.

Boolights- Hogle Zoo 

TEN NIGHTS! October 5 & 6; 11-13, 17-20 and 26

Hogle Zoo is filled with festive Halloween light displays. Ride the spooky train, and more! 

Trick-or-Treating activity is free with regular Zoo admission or membership and begins at 9 am and ends at 3 pm.  All Booster and Premier Booster members will receive early admission to Boo at the Zoo at 8 am.

Boo at the Zoo- Willow Park Zoo- Logan

Join us for family friendly fun with Zootah at Willow Park’s annual Boo at the Zoo event. There will be candy and prizes, crafts, snacks, carnival games and vendors. Tickets will be available at the ticket booth on the day of the event. 

 

Halloween Hoot- Tracy Aviary 

OCTOBER 26, 6:00 PM

Find a sitter and come to an adult only Aviary Halloween party. You can experience the Aviary in a unique way with a fun and tasteful Halloween “bird-lesque” show, adult beverages of all sorts, dancing, shenanigans and a celebration of our owls.

There will be keeper talks, spooky storytime, special Bird Show, crafts & more! Halloween Hoot is 1:00pm-3:30pm

Red Butte’s Garden After Dark – Adventures in Wonderland

With crafts, activities, light displays, and more, this is a fun-filled evening you won’t want to miss! Join us for Garden After Dark, an indoor/outdoor, costume and kid-friendly experience in the Garden to celebrate Halloween. See the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and more! 

 



Little Witches Waffle and Brew Breakfast- Storybrook Play Cafe

Calling all little witches and ghouls! Come to an enchanting morning of delicious waffles and brews for the whole family! 

Tickets are $10/person (adults and children over 2 yrs) and $6 for babies (6mo-under 2)

Include a kids sized witch hat, the Belgian Waffle Bar, fruit and coffee or cider. 

We will also be dancing, playing fun witchy games, doing crafts and playing in our fully decorated witches den!

Fright Train and Food Trucks-South Weber Model Railroad Club

Every year before Halloween ghosts, ghouls, and monsters come alive at Canyon Meadows Park. You’re invited to take a ride along the Fright Train and get see these creatures for yourself. The Fright Train makes a stop around the park where the little ones can collect treats from the monsters. There is no admission fee to enjoy the frights and fun, but donations are gladly accepted to help expand the track and make events like this bigger and better every year.

 

Monster Block Party- Gallivan Center

October 28 

 

The Monster Block Party is a FREE, daytime Halloween festival for Salt Lake City’s goblins and ghouls of all ages. There will be trick-or-treating booths, a costume contest with prizes (Kid, Teen and Adult divisions), free arts and crafts projects, a pumpkin drop, live performances and more!

 

Ogden’s SPOKE-tacular Halloween Ride

October 25 // 6-8:00PM 

 

Enjoy a spooky ride along the Ogden River Parkway through the haunted Dinosaur Park and back. We’ll be handing out prizes for best costume, best decorated bike and more…we’re sure you’ll have a “Spoke-tacular” time!

 

Spooktacular-South Davis Rec Center

Indoor carnival including games, food, canoe rides in the pool, and spook houses.  Entrance is free, tickets are required for the activities.  Tickets are $.50 a piece.

Creatures of the Night- Ogden Nature Center

Two nights of outdoor fun, without fright!

Friday & Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6,
5-8:30 pm / All ages.

Put on your costumes, bring your flashlights and come have some Halloween fun at the Ogden Nature Center.

Creatures of the Night is all about education and outdoor adventures.

Cost: $6 members of the Ogden Nature Center / $7 nonmembers. Children 3 and under are free.

  • Take a crepuscular creep (early night-time) along the trails where you’ll meet the Ogden Nature Center staff transformed into native animals, each with a tale to tell!
  • Meet live owls, snakes, and spiders.
  • Enjoy trailside tales & a campfire, face painting & carnival games.
  • Make fall nature crafts that you can take home.
  • Explore the Bat Cave.
  • Go through the Spider Web Crawl.
  • Food vendors.
  • Costumes and flashlights are welcome.

The Halloween Carnival and Dino Trek or Treat

October 18, 19, 20, 26 and 27,

6:30pm to 8:30pm

 

During October the Park dresses up in family-friendly Halloween décor including nearly 5,000 strands of colorful lights, offering little witches and goblins a unique trick-or-treating experience. It’s the only time you can be in the park after dark! 

 

Special Event admission prices apply ($3 for adults/ seniors, $5 for children 2-12yrs). Members receive 50% admission discounts on special event prices. The Park does not accept coupons or other offers during special events.

This is one of our favorite places to go to celebrate Halloween believe it or not! The kids get so much candy, so this is a fun way to get together and enjoy animals with the fun of Halloween.


Park City Main Street

3:00-5:00 p.m. Trick-or-Treating: Little ghosts and goblins are invited to Main Street for fun and safe Trick-or-Treating, compliments of participating merchants!

5:00 p.m. Dog Parade on Lower Main Street: Leashed, costumed dogs and their owners will meet below the Lower Main Street Pedestrian bridge at 4:45 p.m. The parade will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will march to Heber Avenue.
