Last year for our Summer Learning Series we had a full week dedicated to “Trains” and we made this Fruit Train with our kids as a healthy, fun snack. It turned out to be one of our most popular posts and our kids LOVED making them!
They were so much fun to make and surprisingly didn’t take a lot of effort. We put the first one together and set the fruit out buffet style and let the kids go to town making their own train creations.

We just added fruit to bowls and gave each kid some toothpicks with a paper plate. If you are nervous about using toothpicks you could also use Popsicle sticks. Don’t those fruits look lovely!?
It was fun to see the train creation that each kid came up with. We gave them our “example” but each kid came up with their own variation and they were all really cute.
Of course, no train theme is complete without a ride on a train. Trains are all over the place, I’m sure you can find one close to you.
We also stopped at an adorable little model train museum.

toothpicks? you’ve got to be kidding.
Feel free to replace with popsicle sticks if your kids are too young for toothpicks. 🙂
