Diaper Bag Essentials…

First things first.  It begins with a bag!  In my opinion, you must invest in a good diaper bag.   After all, you want the bag to last at least 2-3 years.  I went through two diaper bags before Crew was six-months-old.  I finally invested in a Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag and I will never go back!  They have styles for every mom! Check them out!

The Sashay Satchel is probably my favorite diaper bag!

Misted Marseille Boxy Backpack: I love the layout of the Boxy Backpack!

My Reasons for going through two diaper bags:
There wasn’t enough pockets, Crew and I out grew it, it got too dirty and I couldn’t wash it, etc.  So please do yourself a favor and invest!  I personally LOVE the Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags.  They are durable, washable, they have plenty of pockets and has a personal spot for my stuff.

Every mom has a diaper bag that weighs 20+ pounds, and you feel like you are bringing the entire house with you just to run an errand or two.  Am I right?!  I did the same thing, especially when Crew was really small.  I thought he needed everything.  I decided it was time to draw the line and bring only what I would “really” need.  This is what I carry in the bag at all time.  Some of the items are seasonal, but for the most part 90% of the stuff below are in the diaper bag.  It will also vary if you are gone all day vs a few hours.  Plan accordingly.

My 15 Diaper Bag Essentials:
Now I realize 15 looks and sounds like a lot of items, but if you organize them correctly it’s manageable and won’t weigh you down.

– Invest in a good diaper bag! {I personally recommend a petunia pickle bottom!}
– At least 3 diapers at all times
– Wipes
– Changing pad
– First Aide Kit {especially once your little one is on the move}
– Sanitizer
– Boogie Wipes and or Tissue
– Soap, lotion, baby powder, etc. {Optional.  I like having the Johnson and Johnson soup on hand just in case Crew falls and gets hurt.}
– Q-tips
– A clutch for mom.  {I recommend not turning your diaper bag into your purse!}
– 1-2 toys
– Snacks
– Pacifier
– Bug spray {during the spring and summer months.}
– Sunscreen {year round}

Quick Tip:  One way to organize inside your diaper bag is with bags, like this picture I found on Pinterest.  Great idea!

Now you know what’s in the diaper bag I carry around.  I would love to hear what you have in your diaper bag.

    I just found you through a friend on Instagram. I have to say, I LOVE this website! What great ideas and helpful hints! I’m excited to try the cranberry sauce! My husband is in the Air Force and will be gone until Feb. I’m glad to have found another website that will help pass the time while he is away and until my second baby is born. 🙂ReplyCancel

    I adore this website (and I’m not just saying that because my cousins are awesome!) The variety of this discussed and covered is refreshing. There is truly something for everyone here. I have appreciated the blog entries and sharing personal experiences that help others to grow as all.

    Also, I have to carry around my son’s tube feeding supplies and I love the clear bags for a diaper bag! Also I’m going to share this on FB and Pinterest…I don’t have Instagram. Thanks!ReplyCancel
