I have been reading chapter books with my kids since they were really little. They are now old enough to read on their own, but I still read aloud to them every night. It is my favorite time of the day and they look forward to it too! This is a list of the best read aloud chapter books for kids, so I’m sure you’ll find your next favorite book!
I love to read chapter books aloud to my kids. Even though they are all old enough to read on their own I still love snuggling up with a good book on my bed with my kids. It is great bonding time and fun to have an excuse to reread your favorite childhood books or discover a new adventure together. My kids look forward to it too! You might also like this list of favorite picture books or the best board books for babies.
This list is for elementary age kids (ages 5-11). Some books are more for the younger side of those age ranges and some are more for the older kids. You can click on the link to each book and find out the recommended age range for each book. I’ve discovered when I read books to my older boys that my 5 year old daughter follows along just fine, but you can decide what would work best for your family.
Here are a few things I’ve learned while reading chapter books aloud to my kids.
