Pineapple and Mango Margarita Mocktail

The days are getting warmer and it’s time to soak up some sun! I love spending time outside watching the kids play while I’m sipping on a cold beverage. This pineapple and mango margarita mocktail is the perfect drink to cool off and relax. Sipping a fancy blended drink makes me feel like I’m on vacation; maybe even a little mom break.

This margarita mocktail recipe only makes two servings so you may want to double it if you have little ones. My kids always say they just want to try it and end up drinking more than half! It has fresh ingredients that are healthy and one serving is only 100 calories. If you want to drink two servings of this fruity drink, I say go for it!

We do a lot of barbecues in the summer and this is the perfect drink for guests, especially if your planning a luau. Serve them with those little umbrella straws and fresh fruit on the glass! Also be sure to check out these easy minute to win it party games if you’re planning a get together. They are a party favorite and they are great for all ages.

What is a Mocktail?

A mocktail is a nonalcoholic drink with its primary ingredient being juice or soda. Technically it’s a cocktail minus the alcohol. All ages can enjoy a margarita mocktail!

Ingredients for a Margarita Mocktail

  • Fresh lime juice
  • Fresh pineapple (frozen pineapple would work too)
  • Frozen mango: you can use fresh, we just used frozen for ease and to help make the juice slushy when blended.
  • Coconut water: I chose to use coconut water due to its hydrating properties, but using filtered water is okay.Β
  • Ice cubes

How to Make Pineapple and Mango Margarita Mocktail:

If you can turn on a blender, then you can make these! They are so easy to put together. Only 3 steps:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and pulse until smooth.
  2. Rim the glasses by cutting a lime edge and moisten the rim with the juice of the lime. Then place the glass down-side into sugar, salt or any granulated sweetener.
  3. Pour the mocktail into two glasses. Enjoy immediately!

Commonly Asked Questions:

How do I get the most juice out of fresh limes? Use a reamer or juicer to get the most juice. Make sure to soften the skin by rolling it with your palm on a hard counter. Heat it in the microwave for 15 seconds to extract more juice. Store your limes in a loose bag in the crisper part of the refriderator to keep them from drying up on the counter.

What kind of salt should I use to rim the glass? Do not use table salt to rim a glass, it’s too fine and will give you too much of a salt flavor! To make this a proper margarita, you need coarse kosher salt to rim the glass. The larger crystals in kosher salt gives your drink a pleasant texture and dissolves slowly on your tongue. The tart lime juice combined with the slight crunch of the salt is delicious!

How do you pick a ripe pineapple? Check for green leaves and a yellow green exterior color indicating it’s fresh. Give it a little push or squeeze to see if it gives. It should be slightly soft and not hard. Check for a sweet smell when you smell the bottom of the fruit.

What are some garnishes to use on the glass? Decorate the glasses with lime slices, pineapple slices or mint leaves to get a fancy mocktail. Try a skewer of tropical fruit in each glass for a little fruit salad on a stick to go with your refreshing drink. Pineapple, strawberries, kiwi, mango are fun colorful fruits that stay on a skewer well.

Can I add Alcohol? Yes you can. Simply add 4 oz of tequila or you can use 4oz of rum to make it a daiquiri.
