Are you looking for a way to stretch your dollar this holiday season? I think I may have a solution that you will love. My husband and I believe in using cash for a lot of our purchases, but we have also found a great benefit in using our Chase credit card with Ultimate Rewards. We are always very careful to pay off our balances monthly, but love that purchases are given a little safety net in case of needing to reverse a payment, cancel an online order, and fraud protection.
Make a goal.
One of my favorite ways to stay on top of my credit card payment as well as the points I am aiming toward is to make a plan of the item or cash amount I am going for. You could do this by keeping a note of it in your day planner, a pinterest board, or a note on your refrigerator. This helps to keep your goal in your mind and you could even create a chart that you fill in or bookmarking your account to see what items you are saving for.
Use Your points Flexibly.
The thing that I love about our Chase Freedom card is that it allows you use the points you earn for travel, experiences, merchandise, gift cards or even cash back. Most often my husband and I will use our Chase for cash back so that we can use it for the extra expenses that come along with every day life, whether it be car repairs or buying presents for Christmas!
This is how it works:Chase Ultimate Rewards givescash back via direct deposit to cardholders starting at $20 for 2,000 points. Merchandise redemptions and gift cards are available at the same prices you’d pay in store without additional mark-ups (i.e. a $50 product/gift card costs 5,000 points). Chase Ultimate Rewards can also be used for exclusive, VIP access to concerts, sporting events, movie premieres and more. Rewards can be redeemed for travel on any flight, any time without blackout dates and restrictions. There are three card options you can choose from that have Ultimate Rewards : Chase Freedom, Chase Sapphire and Ink from Chase.
If you use these cards during the holidays you are also eligible for extra incentives. We plan to use our cash we’ve earned from points back to take a trip to Disneyland in February! This will be our kid’s Christmas surprise and I am so excited to tell them! Because this is our family gift we are fulfilling a family vacation and Christmas! YES! So whether you decide to use your points to redeem for travel or cash it is up to you, my favorite feature they offer is the added protection to my identity and my family.
