Despicable Me 3 Movie Review and FUN for kids

Have small minion lovers running around in your house? They are going to love the new Despicable Me 3 movie! My kids have all loved the despicable me three movies, so they have really been looking forward to the release of this third installment with our favorite villain turned super dad. With our summer bucket list we have been filling up our days with activities, cousin time, outdoor exploring, and swimming.

I knew going to the new Despicable Me 3 movie was high on their list and we negotiated special terms that if they worked on their chores well through the month we would make a special stop to Toys”R”Us to pick out a toy and go to  the movie as a family. Jett has been wanting to get a fart gun for years and I resisted for obvious reasons. He’s made some big leaps in his potty training recently (pooping on the toilet,) and it was all too fitting. To say he was thrilled is an understatement. Jayne was so excited to find the unicorn with a horn that lights up at Toys “R” Us that she now sleeps with every single night.  We had so much fun at the movie theater and the kids giggled the whole way through the movie. The story opens with a new top dog in Gru’s secret agent company and he and Lucy losing their jobs. The story unfolds into finding where they go next and how they will move forward as a new family. I laughed through the scenes of the new super villain, Balthazar, as he danced and bounced his way through the movie. He brings back cassette tapes, bubble, gum, Michael Jackson, and other 80’s treasures. That makes it really fun as a parent knowing all the music and introducing some classics to your kids. My favorite part of the movie was the genuine love and concern shown to the character Lucy of her relishing in the moments that she realized she was a mother to three darling girls. All of the movies previously have focused on the father/child relationship and it was really fun to see those parenting roles being embraced by mother and father. The minions questions their loyalty to Gru which is always hilarious. Gru finds out something about his family heritage that makes him question his life as a villain again and his destiny. All of which was shared in such a fun way.

I am sure this will be one my kids will watch over and over for years to come and I will be singing in the background.
