I loved the idea of putting personal photos in the room. I put a small dorm size refrigerator in the closet and stock it with beverages, glasses, fruit, nuts, candy bars etc. I iron the sheets and pillow cases. It adds to that pampered feeling. I also put a serving tray on the bed, they can use it to eat on or a flat surface for letter writing. To me the most important thing is to provide a designated area for your guests. I also use my best china and silverware throughout their visit. No one likes to feel they are an after thought especially when spending time and money to get there. I think I’ve stayed in some of the worst guest bedrooms . For example:  40 year old shag carpet, same sheets on the bed from my last visit a year ago, mattress older than the shag carpet, mismatched furniture pieces that need to be returned to Goodwill. If people would just follow the steps you listed, it would be a huge improvement over the way most people take care of their guestsReplyCancel
