My oldest son loves whales and has for quite sometime. When we first moved to Alaska we went on a wildlife cruise in Seward and saw humpback whales and orcas in the wild and that was eye opening to him. He was so delighted and wanted to learn everything he could about whales. At the time he was not enjoying reading and everyday was such a struggle. So when he started bringing books about whales home from library and was actually opening them up and reading them without being asked I was delighted! The fun part is that I now know more about whales than I ever thought I would! Reading is great for your children’s minds, but did you know you can learn something too!? It makes the bonding experience of reading together even better!
P.S. I know orcas aren’t really whales (they’re part of the dolphin family), but I am including them in this list.
