Bathroom tongs in the Bathroom: Mom Hack

Have you ever been in a stinky situation in the bathroom? Well, more specifically one that involves something going into the toilet that shouldn’t be there? Bathroom Tongs can save you in this situation! Today I am going to share some advice for parents with toddlers. It is something simple and something that has saved me from some barf-inducing situations.

bathroom tongs

Keep a pair of tongs in your bathroom. Use them to fish out toys, keys, or massive amounts of potty clogging toilet paper that your child throws in toilet.

You will especially be grateful for your bathroom tongs when your child drops something in the toilet and then throws up. That is where our bathroom tongs originated.

Tonight I fished out a favorite toy among poop. Yeah, it was gross, but I kept my hands out of it. This can also be a lifesaver if you have ever had your phone drop into the toilet on accident, which honestly, I have reached in with my hand in that moment! 🙂 Maybe you wouldn’t want to hunt for tongs in a quick “life or death” moment like that, but a toy would be worth finding your tongs for!

Just make sure to mark your tongs somehow so you know they are the bathroom tongs and you don’t accidentally take them into the kitchen. (Gross.) Mine look completely different than the tongs I keep in my kitchen, but just to be extra careful I put a piece of tape on the handle that says “BATHROOM!” on it. I don’t think you can be too careful with keeping bathroom tongs out of the kitchen.

Also, I bought my bathroom tongs at the dollar store. It really has been a great investment. The kids might see this as a fun “toy” so make sure it is kept in a special place so that it isn’t accidentally used in the bath and put in the mouth. The bonus is that you can throw it in the dishwasher and you are good as new!
