When you think of pumpkin you might automatically think of pie, but pumpkin is a great addition to your savory dishes as well. Pumpkin is healthy, flavorful and hearty and these savory pumpkin recipes will be a hit!
When you think of pumpkin dishes you might be like me and think of all the delicious sweet pumpkin treats–pie, cookies, muffins, bread and cakes. Pumpkin is naturally sweet so it’s perfect in dessert (checkout our favorite pumpkin desserts here), but pumpkin also deserves a spot in your favorite savory dishes as well. Pumpkin not only adds heartiness, creaminess, it also adds nutrients because pumpkin is high in fiber, potassium and vitamin C.
Before you get started I need to share a secret. It is so easy to make your own pumpkin puree! The canned pumpkin is great, but if you’re interested in making your own check this recipe out. It is seriously so simple and it’s made in the crock pot. The best part is that it tastes better too!
