Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 4 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 5-8 drops food coloring Add as much as you want for the right color

Instructions

  • In a large pan, add all the ingredients and mix together until combined. Add more food coloring, if desired.
  • Over medium heat cook dough, stirring with a wooden spoon until it starts to gather around the spoon, about 1-2 minutes. (The dough will be lumpy as it starts to cook, but that is normal)
  • Continue stirring for an additional 1-2 minutes. Once the dough is no longer sticky and has formed into a large ball remove from the heat and pan.
  • Take dough out of the pan and place on counter. Allow the dough to cool until it can be handled and then knead any of the lumps out.
  • You can wait and add food coloring at this point so you can divide the dough and make more colors. It is messier that way, but it is an option.

Notes

Substitute for no Cream of Tartar:
  • Instead of 1 cup of water, use 3/4 cup of water minus 3 Tbsps.
  • Instead of the cream of tartar, use 3 Tbsp of lemon juice.
  • Change the 1/2 cup of salt, to only 1/4 cup of salt.
  • Everything else on the recipe stays the same.
