Thank you for joining us for another cooking episode of Horlacher and Walker Facebook live! We are sharing Teriyaki Chicken and Hawaiian Fried Rice a family favorite and secret recipe passed down in Horlacher’s family for years.
This recipe is packed full of flavor and completely up to interpretation with the ingredients if you want to add something or take something away. Use what you have in the kitchen and enjoy the glorious blend of it all coming together.
For the teriyaki chicken recipe I do prefer to use fresh chicken as opposed to frozen, but the end result will be the same. I use prepared minced garlic to save time in the kitchen and even have ginger on hand if possible.
- Boneless skinless chicken any cut
- One part soy sauce
- One part white sugar
- Everything else in this recipe is optional you only need the three above ingredients to make very good teriyaki chicken. Include only the flavors you want below.
- Minced garlic
- Grated ginger
- Sesame seeds
- Sesame oil
This Hawaiian fried rice recipe can be doubled or tripled depending on the number of people you will be serving and it also keeps really well if you want to make extra. Don’t be afraid of the SPAM as it is an integral part to this secret family recipe! If you would like to modify the recipe to be a little more health conscious or even to your taste preference you can substitute different kinds of bacon. I actually prefer turkey bacon, but that is completely up to you. Peas and carrots can be used frozen or fresh, we are going to be using carrot shreds because that is what I had in my fridge today!
