It’s time to wrap up our car week and share all of the fun we had with our kids.
We started out by reading Go, Dog, Go! to our kids. The book was a great way to end our monthly theme of things that go because it had so many things that do move and go. Because there aren’t cars on every page of the book I told the kids to watch carefully and when they saw a car they had to shout, “go, dog, go!” It made them pay a little more attention and it made the book a little more silly and fun.
Ooooh, you gotta love the faces of children listening to a book.
I found some awesome wooden car kits at Walmart for a few dollars each and we had fun putting those together and painting them.
For a snack we made fun cars out of apples. They were a hit with the kids and they were pretty simple to put together.
First cut an apple in half and then cut a little bit off each side:
With a paring knife cut away some of the apple in the middle to make the cab of the car:
We added cheerios for the headlights, mini Oreos for the tires, a small slice of carrot for a steering wheel, a cute flag, and Lego batman, of course.
We loved that the apple already came equipped with a tail pipe.
The kids had fun putting them together…and eating them of course!
