Shared Star Wars Room

I have been anticipating putting my boys together in a room for months now and knew that I wanted to make a shared Star Wars room as my boys are both obsessed with Star Wars. In fact, my two year old will wake up singing the Darth Vader theme song and will often sing it in between bites…I really need to get that on camera.

I wanted to create a room that looked like it belonged to two young boys, but one that wasn’t too baby looking either. I think we came up with the perfect mix and I am so excited to share it with you today!

One of the most pressing matters was what type of bed I wanted the boys to share. The room is rather small, and while I love the look of two twin beds side by side it just wasn’t a practical use of space. I also wasn’t to keen on the idea of buying two twin size beds because my husband is 6’6″ and I know these little boys will be growing and growing and growing. I opted to buy this bunk bed that is two full size beds on top and bottom. I love that the color is neutral and will go with any decor and I also loved the price. I ordered mattresses from Amazon and the bed as well so they both arrived at my door. Hallelujah for online shopping.

These mattresses are especially good for bunk beds as they don’t take up as much space and because they have memory foam in them they are not as fun to jump on. SCORE. Don’t be fooled though, they are still very comfortable.

I wanted to find some artwork for the walls that was a little nontraditional and something unexpected. I found these prints from Etsy that are actually printed on linen! I then framed them in inexpensive frames from IKEA that do not have glass so they are extremely light and I used 3m wall Velcro wall attachments to hang them on the wall. That way, if there ever was a boy behaving like a boy and knocking one off the wall it wouldn’t break! You can find these fun Star Wars prints here on Etsy.

One of my absolute favorite find of this year is. I cannot rave about this bedding enough. It makes making a bunk bed actually do able and it is so cute! I bought this exact same pattern of bedding from Target and although I liked the look the room was always a mess. I found the exact same bedding from Beddy’s and fell in LOVE. Now all my son has to do in the morning to make his bed is simply zip it up!

slideshow_1Best news! There is an awesome sale happening until the end of the month to buy one get one 50% off, there has never been a sale this low!!

Don’t you love the pattern? I must admit, I took a few of the pillow cases and used them in my own room. You can order them from their store directly or on Amazon. They are machine washable and come with the most comfortable minky sheet inside. I am a little jealous that I don’t have one on my bed because they make making your bed a breeze. If you have bunk beds your life will never be the same once you put beddy’s on them. Trust me.

You can find this Darth Vader at Target. He kinda creeps me out.

The boys are always building LEGOS so I put together these bins from IKEA and even made a lego figure display out of an IKEA frame. I will share that tutorial soon! I made it so long ago I need to find the step by step pictures I took when we made it. The storm troopers wall hanging is from At Home.

I filled up the desk with pictures from Jackson’s Star Wars birthday party. You can check that out HERE.

I took one of the free movie posters that came out when Star Wars: The Force Awakens and framed it above the dresser. The BB8 decoration is actually a drink cup that we bought at Disney World.

I love how it all came together! Now I just need to bite the bullet and take my two year old out of the crib so the baby can have the nursery to himself!
