24 Frozen Elf on the Shelf Ideas

It truly is the best of both worlds combining the magic of Elf on the Shelf and all of the Frozen characters. It’s been several years since Disney brought the Frozen characters to all of us and it still is a family favorite. Elsa and Anna are still the top Halloween costumes I see every year because these characters are timeless.

We’ve all done most of the common Elf on the Shelf expeiences with our kids, but this was so fun to come up with new ideas combining the Frozen characters.

There are 24 ideas listed on this post with each having a list of supplies you will need under the description. You can use some or use them all. There really is unlimited ideas and possibilities with these loved characters.

1. Attack of the Snow Monster

This one is a little more involved with the set up for your Elf on the Shelf as you can see. There are multiple pictures for you to see the positions that the different characters are in to attack the snow monster. We used our IKEA blanket to make it look like a snow hill with boxes stacked up underneath. We then used toilet paper to create snowballs into the characters hands. You may want to use a little tape to help the toilet paper stay in place.

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

boxes

blanket

Frozen characters

toilet paper

tape

2. Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

elf on the shelf, do you want to build a snowman

Your child will love your Elf on the Shelf building a snowman with his new favorite Frozen friends! This one was so much fun to put together and really, very easy! The snowman was made simply by rolling up toilet paper into balls and using tape to secure the ball + little sticks from your backyard to make arms. The background comes in a kit that you can buy with the mini figures.

This would be a great day to go outside and build a snowman with your child!

You will need:

4. Going Fishing with Elsa and Anna

Go fishing with your Elf on the Shelf, Elsa, and Anna! This is a quick and easy set up that will delight your child as they come into the bathroom first thing in the morning. You Will Need:

Cutting ice with Kristoff is super easy, but you will want to set it up just before your children see it as the ice will melt quickly. It might even be fun to set it up outside and have the elf cutting iceicles with Kristoff outside! Either way, ice cutting never looked cuter!

You will Need:

9. True Love

frozen, elf on the shlef, anna, elsa, elf, christmas

This is such a fun way to display your Elf on the Shelf because I mean, the look on his face looks like he is up to something and this is the sweetest heist to be a part of. Anna and Kristoff are getting the real lesson of what love is all about. This would be a great day to share love with those who could use a little extra care in your life. Maybe you could brainstorm with your little sweetie and find someone who could use a little more love. You could make and deliver cookies, go caroling, bring in dinner, or draw someone a picture.

You will Need:

Elf on the Shelf

12. Snow Flurry with Olaf

elf on the shelf with Olaf, own personal flurry

Sometimes the Elf on the Shelf misses the North Pole and snow just as much as Olaf does. He makes them both happy by creating their very own flurry to cozy up under. Your kids will love this idea and may not want you to take down the mini snowflakes!

Use a needle to fish a string through your cotton ball and tie a knot so you can use the string and attach it to a piece of paper using tape. Cluster the cotton balls in a small space so it resembles a small flurry of snow. We attached the paper above them on a bookshelf but it could be attached to a ceiling as well.

You will Need:

Elf on the Shelf

Cottonballs

Paper

tape

needle

String

Olaf Mini figurine

13. Warm Hugs with Olaf

Elf on the shelf, warm hugs with olaf

This is such a fun Elf on the Shelf idea that you can use with stuffed animals you already have around the house…because who doesn’t love warm hugs with Olaf? Of course you can use a bigger Olaf than we had because this little guy is pretty small.

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

Stuffed Animals

14. Talking to Pictures on the Wall

Elf on the shelf, christmas, frozen, elf, talking to the paintings on the wall, elsa, anna

One of my favorite parts of the movie Frozen is Anna’s opening song and “talking to pictures on the wall.” Your Elf on the Shelf will love getting in on the action! Find a picture in the house that looks like one you could use for “talking.” My picture is from Little Duchess, they have amazing interchangeable prints.

You will Need:

Elf on the Shelf

Anna

This could be a fun time to role play and imagine with your kids, “What do you think the Elf is telling this little boy in the picture?”

15. Ice Skating with Elsa and Anna

elf on the shelf, ice skating

Your kids will love finding your Elf on the Shelf ice skating with Elsa and Anna! This set up took a little bit more time but very easy to redo. I used a basket to help prop up the elf’s body and used this white blanket from IKEA. The “ice” is actually a small piece of glass from a bathroom shelf with a piece of blue tissue paper underneath. I thought it was a fun touch to have Anna having fallen over!

Use a little tape on Anna’s hand to help her keep a hold of the chocolate.

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

“sled” (I used a dish from the dollar store)

20. Visiting the Trading Post and Sauna

Elf on the shelf at wandering Oaken's trading post and sauna

This one was a lot of fun. The Elf on the Shelf takes a visit to “The Wandering Oakens Trading Post and Sauna” taken right from the movie Frozen. Of course he is with his pals Elsa and Anna! This took a little more creativity on my part. I simple found a small box and wrapped it with mailing paper found at the dollar store and colored it with brown colored pencil and black marker. The plants and snow balls are made using cotton balls and string. Round up a few fake plants from around your house and you are good to go. (My plants are from IKEA.)

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

Elsa and Anna

box

paper, marker, colored pencil

cotton balls

tape

Sometime the Elf misses his cold home and so to feel a little more comfortable he takes breaks in the freezer! Maybe you could even have a freezer meal ready in the freezer that Olaf is just waiting for you to pop in the slow cooker so you can go out and enjoy a day of shopping!

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

22. Tying Up Hans

This is a little trick that the Elf on the Shelf wants to play on Prince Hans…he had it coming right? Just use a little holiday ribbon to tie Hans in a tricky spot to show him that liars never prosper.

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

Mini figures

ribbon

tape

23. Dancing with Anna

Elf on the shelf dancing with anna

Who knew that the Elf on the Shelf loves to dance? Anna from Frozen has him up on his toes enjoying coronation day! Turn on some music and get into the spirit of Christmas with some festive tunes!

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

Coronation day background

Anna

24. Help the Elf on the Shelf Find Elsa

frozen, elf on the shelf, elsa, anna, christmas, find elsa

The Elf on the Shelf is on an important mission…Elsa has gone missing AGAIN and Anna needs help finding her! She has left behind her shoes, but you need to find where she is hidden. Wrap up a clue that will help your child find her or let the clue be the first of many to find where she is hidden. It might be fun to hide her somewhere COLD like the freezer, the garage, or out in the snow in the backyard!

You will need:

Elf on the Shelf

Anna and Elsa

paper/pen to write your clues
