Activities with Paint Dab Markers

I am so excited about these paint markers that I found that I had to share them with you guys. If you haven’t heard of them or tried them out with your kids you should! They are spill-proof bottles of paint that have a soft foam applicator that you dab on the paper. No cups of water or paintbrushes needed. Kids can make lines, swirls or dabs with these markers with no mess. They make beautiful works of art, but they are fun for learning projects as well. I found mine at Wal-mart, but you can find them on Amazon in many different non-toxic varieties to choose from.

All three of my kids love these paints. Seriously, first thing in the morning they ask for “dotted art.” They love them. I love that I can sneak in an alphabet lesson and they don’t realize they’re learning. 🙂 I’ve been working on lower case letters with my youngest son, so I wrote a bunch of letters on a piece of paper and had him dab the lower case ‘a’ in yellow and the lower case ‘b’ with blue. You could make this a little more fancy by making it on the computer.

Since buying these I have found SO many fun learning activities and art projects to make for these. I didn’t realize they were so popular! At Homeschool Creations I found these adorably awesome alphabet printables. Here’s the link for (a-m) and (n-z).

With Halloween right around the corner we also made this paper plate witch. Isn’t she frightening!? 🙂 My son dabbed the plate green and then I had him cut a triangle out of orange for the nose and a triangle and a rectangle out of black for the hat. Add googly eyes and yarn hair and she’s done. I wanted to make a jack-o-lantern as well, but our pack of paints didn’t come with orange.

The possibilities are endless with these paint dab markers. They make a great addition to any collection of art supplies. Get creative and have fun!
