The best books for early readers & Green Eggs and Ham – Read & Learn app

the best books for beginning readers

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Oceanhouse Media. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love talking about reading and books here on the blog. I have written many different posts all about our favorite picture books for kids, our favorite chapter books and even our favorite board books for babies. Reading to your children is so important! Starting when they are young and making it part of your daily routine will help your child so much with language development and will help them when they are ready to learn how to read down the road. It is also a great way to bond and spend time with your kids.

Today I want to share a list of my favorite books for early readers. These books are easier to read and are full of sight words. Before I share my list let me introduce you to a new digital book app that is being released today from Dr. Seuss: “Green Eggs and Ham – Read & Learn”. Don’t you love Dr. Seuss!? You will notice that most of the books on my list are Dr. Seuss books because they are just so fantastic for early readers and now you have another resource to enjoy Dr. Seuss.

This is such a fun app! I have a 3, 6 and 8 year old and they all loved it. My 8 year old was probably a little too old for the app, but he still enjoyed playing with it. The app helps reinforce important literacy skills like spelling, rhyming, and reading comprehension in a very fun way. It brings the book “Green Eggs and Ham” to life with great animations and fun interactions and games.

I love that your child can choose to read along with highlighting narration or they can choose to read it by themselves. You can also learn new vocabulary by tapping words and pictures. I also love that I can keep track of minutes and pages read in the parent’s section.

My kids love the interactive games and activities. The app is also full of surprises! You can tap, drag, and tilt your device to find playful surprises throughout the book and there are hidden stars on every page that reveal learning activities. My kids didn’t even realize they were learning and reading, which is an awesome bonus.
