Romantic Getaway to Salt Lake City Ideas

Utah, it is known to have the greatest snow on earth, but it is also the perfect place to have some time away for you and your significant other. Your romantic Getaway to Salt Lake City can be full of adventure, and a little magic with very little effort! What I love about Salt Lake City is that it is considered a “smaller” city, but it offers the best quality in cuisine and entertainment. Recently I put together a little getaway with a few of my friends to spotlight what we love about Salt Lake City. We sampled some of the best that the city has to offer and I even have discounts available to offer you as well! (The timing is perfect for Valentines Day coming up or any other special event you may be planning.) So I am sharing this as ideas of what you can do for a romantic getaway, but it was a really fun time for a girls weekend away, too.

This is a first of many Utah specific highlights that will be coming!

Take in the city lights at Temple Square and visit City Creek Center.

Salt Lake City is home to Temple Square which has as its’ jewel and center of attention on the LDS Salt Lake City Temple. If you are curious about the LDS faith you can walk the temple grounds and learn more from the free visitors center. Right around the corner you can find the most beautiful outdoor shopping center with heated walkways that will stay clear and dry rain or shine. City Creek has all of the top shopping destinations and is filled with is very own restaurant center. My personal favorite places to shop there are the Disney store, H&M, West Elm, Nordstrom, & Anthropology. Give yourself plenty of time to explore, the underground parking is covered for your first two hours!

Mix up some romance in the kitchen with a cooking class for two at Harmons.

Whether you are wanting to up your culinary skills or create a fun romantic setting for you and your spouse Harmons offers amazing cooking classes that you would enjoy. There are locations all over Utah, keep in mind that you may want to check location specific times so that you can make sure to hit the right time.

If you would rather have food ordered ahead to have a romantic night in, you can order trays ahead of time so that you can venture out or stay cozy inside. Promise me that if you do decide to take some food to go that you try their sugar cookies because in my opinion they are the best you can find. Also try their flavored nuts, chocolate dipped cinnamon bears, or fresh dishes like pico de Gallo for late night snacking.

Put your brains and teamwork to the test with Live Game Escape.

If you love to try new things and put your mind to the test then you must come try the Live Game Escape! This is best done in a group of around 6 people as six minds are always better than one! We were not allowed to take any pictures inside the actual game rooms, but the whole experience is very hands on. You will be required to solve puzzles, look for clues, unlock codes, and put your analytical skills to the test. We had such a good time. You can get half off your admission right now through Groupon!

We felt pretty smart when we were all done, although we did have to ask for help once! 🙂 More rooms are being added as well, I cannot wait to go back.

Settle down for a romantic dinner with food you will dream of for weeks later.

I have been a big fan of Christopher’s Steak House for years now. Every dish is made with exquisite detail. We could not help ourselves from taking picture after picture. While the food is exceptional, the very best part of Christopher’s is their service.

Snag 46% off your dinner with this coupon from Groupon for your dine in experience. And if they happen to have a special on salmon and your on the fence about trying it, go for a steak and the salmon and split it with your honey. You can thank me later.

Try famous local dishes like a “Mormon Burger” at FatJacks & the finish off your meal with classic Funeral potatoes.

Utah comes with some quirky food traditions like jello and funeral potatoes. One thing is for sure, Black Jacks is the best little spot to grab a burger that will leave an impression. The parmesan fries and funeral potatoes are awesome choice for sides. Although this is set in a bar setting it is a family friendly location, not smokey, and equipped with high chairs and delicious kids meals.

Eat like a pig for breakfast.

Open all day this diner getaway is worth the drive up the canyon. There are three locations in Utah and I am now obsessed. I ordered the “kitchen sink” and fell in love with this hardy morning treat.

This is the official description of the dish since I am sure I wouldn’t be able to remember all of the ingredients. House Recipe crumbled sausage, local bacon, diced tomatoes, red peppers, onions, kale, shredded provolone cheese, served with Bloody Mary salsa.
