How to Make Fluffy Slime with Glitter

In this post we will give you 5 easy steps with 5 easy ingredients showing how to make fluffy slime.  Slime is all the rage these days…in fact I had to go to 5 different stores (how many times can I say the number 5?) to get glue to make this fluffy slime!  I initially planned on using regular white Elmers glue and then adding food coloring, but the only type of glue that was left on the shelf at the store was this Elmer’s glitter glue…this led to the birth of GLITTER FLUFFY SLIME!  We had a blast making this fluffy slime – it was the perfect activity to kick off the summer break with our kids.

What You’ll Need to Make Fluffy Slime

  1. 1 cup of Barbasol Original Shaving Cream
  2. 1 bottle of Elmers Glitter Glue (6 oz) – your color of choice
  3. 1 cup warm water
  4. 1 teaspoon of Borax solution
  5. 3-6 drops of Eye Contact Solution

How to Make Fluffy Slime

Here is everything you will need to make fluffy slime

How To Make Fluffy Slime - Add Glue

First step is to add the glitter glue to a bowl.  Plan on using this bowl to mix and knead the slime at the end.

How to make fluffy slime - Add Shaving Cream

Next add 1 cup of Barbasol original shaving cream.

How to make fluffy slime - stir together

Mix both ingredients together.  You may want to also put down some newspaper or plastic to protect your beautiful runner on your table…we forgot that part!

How to make fluffy slime - add contact lens solution

Add about six drops of contact lens solution.  This helps the slime not be so sticky when it is done.  This also helps the glitter to not flake off from the slime.

How to make fluffy slime - add borax to warm water

Add one teaspoon of Borax to 1 cup of warm water in a separate bowl.  Stir until the borax has disintegrated.  You can put this water-Borax solution in a squirt bottle or just spoon it onto your slime.  I’ve even seen some people use the empty glue bottle as a squirt bottle for the Borax.

How to make fluffy slime - add borax + water to slime slowly

Spoon the Borax + Water solution slowly onto the slime.  Stir with the wooden spoon first, then transfer to kneading by hand.

How to make fluffy slime - knead slime with hands and slowly add borax

When first kneading, it will be sticky.  You know it needs more Borax solution if that is the case.  Add the Borax + water solution until the slime no longer sticks to your fingers or the bowl.  Be careful to add slowly because too much borax will cause the slime to break and not be as squishy.

How to make fluffy slime - slime should not stick to bowl

This is what the slime will look like when it no longer sticks to the bowl.

How to make fluffy slime - optional leave overnight in tupperware

This next step is optional, but I recommend it.  Put your slime into a sealed tupperware and let it set up overnight.  These cool bubbles will form on top that are fun to pop, but your slime ends up the perfect consistency if you leave it overnight.

As you can see it just plops right out of the tupperware.  It’s no longer sticky and the glitter stays in place (for the most part).
