Unique Honeymoon destinations

 

Your relationship with your fiance is unique, so of course you want to make your honeymoon unique as well!  You don’t want to be just like everyone else who honeymoons in Cancun, Hawaii, or Southern California.  Read on to learn about some of the most creative, beautiful, and cool honeymoon destination spots that you may or may not have heard of.

 

Quebec, Canada

Honeymooning in Quebec can make you feel like you took a vacation in Europe, at a fraction of the cost.  This French region has it all: beautiful architecture, gourmet cheeses, fine wines, the cheek-kiss greeting, and even a gondola between the Versant Soleil and the Versant Sud.  It is quite the enchanting city.  

 

Greece

Greece is absolutely gorgeous with it’s vibrant culture and gorgeous scenery, making it a popular honeymoon destination.  And due to the recent economic crisis, Greece is desperate tourism money.  That means that many businesses are eager to make your stay as enjoyable, as possible and at a great price to convince you to come.   However, you should bring as much cash as you can, as there are often cash shortages.  (Picture from Santorini, Greece).

 

Iceland

Despite its deceptive name, Iceland is quite beautiful.  The country is romantic, gorgeous, and truly unique.  You can have adventure and solitude in the same vacation.  Many people can even see the Northern Lights from their hotel.  If you are a Star Wars fan, you can even visit a few of the places that they filmed.  Make sure you visit Blue Lagoon, the incredible geothermal spa in the heart of Iceland.  

 

Croatia

Croatia is full of gorgeous mountainous beaches with crystal clear waters below.  It has been compared to heaven on earth.  The villages are quaint and full of beautiful ancient architecture that you won’t find anywhere else.  You can take a swim in the gorgeous sea, go for incredible hikes through the country, or just spend quality time in your luxurious hotel room. Don’t forget to take a day or two to tour Plitvice, the gorgeous national park.  

 

Aspen, Colorado

Aspen is a beautiful city in the middle of the Rocky Mountains.  During the winter it is an amazing ski resort, and in the summer a quaint and gorgeous mountain town (with incredible hiking trails).  Everywhere you visit drips with luxury mixed with outdoor adventure.  It is perfect for the outdoorsy couple.  (Picture from Maroon Bells Trail)

 

Yangshuo, China

Another gorgeous place for the outdoorsy couple is Yangshuo, China.  The scenery is unlike anything else in the world.  The mountains dramatically roll across the landscape carved by the Yulong River.  You can go hiking through the mountains, kayaking down the river, or take a stroll down West Street (the main street full of local crafts and souvenirs).

 

Bird Island, Belize

You might think that renting a private island for your honeymoon would be far too expensive, but it might be more affordable than you think.  There is a small island just off the coast of Belize that only costs $395/night.  It is a beautiful private island, perfect for a romantic getaway.  There are many other islands that you can book in Belize, Malaysia, Maldives, Panama, Honduras, and in the South Pacific, some more private than others.  

 

Cook Islands

The Cook Islands are a beautiful tropical escape in the South Pacific.  White sands, sparkling waters, and perfect weather make it a wonderful place to take your sweetheart and relax, just the two of you.  The sunsets are astounding, the beaches calming, and there are many private lagoons, perfect for a dip.  (Picture from Rarotonga, Cook Islands).

 

Okinawa

Surprisingly, the southernmost island of Japan is a remarkable tropical paradise.  It is perfect for a vacation year round, with temperatures in the 60s in the winter and 90s in the summer.  If you travel in the winter, you will have the remarkable opportunity to see the cherry blossoms bloom and majestic whales visit.  During the other nine months of the year, it is swimsuit weather.  It is a perfectly unique honeymoon spot.  

 

Senegal

Senegal is a beautiful country in West Africa, perfect for a romantic getaway.  The capital city, Dakar is full of culture, art, and history, and less than 30 kilometers away, you will find the gorgeous Pink Lake that glistens pink and purple due to the minerals in the lake.  It’s a great place to take pictures with a landscape that reflects your love.
