breadbowls chunky campbellsIt’s now Fall, which means the temperatures are getting lower, the leaves are changing and it’s time for boots, sweaters, pumpkins, football and soup! Ahhhh….I love the Fall.

There are many reasons to love Fall, but I especially love that it is soup weather. I’m glad my family loves soup because I make it a lot. Every once in a while I like to serve the soup in a tasty bread bowl. This recipe makes 5 good sized bowls that are soft and chewy on the inside and crisp on the outside and sturdy enough to hold any of your favorite soups or stews.

campbell soup and bread bowlsWe used Campbell’s Chunky BBQ Seasoned Pork stew in our bread bowls and it was the perfect hearty soup for a chilly day. It was loaded with big pieces of meat and veggies and it was so good! My growing boys and my husband all have the biggest appetites in our house and they left the table satisfied and happy. @CampbellsChunky soups are a great for a hearty meal or the perfect snack.

Homemade bread bowls

I kind of cheat when I make rolls because I make the dough in my bread machine. Did you know you can make bread dough in your bread maker!? It saves a ton of time and the rolls I’ve made have the same taste and texture as the ones I have made the regular way. The directions below will be for how to make them in a bread machine. Enjoy!

Homemade Bread Bowls

Makes 4-5 bowls
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
½ cup warm water
½ cup milk
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
4 cups flour

Directions to make bread bowls in the bread machine:

Dissolve sugar and yeast and warm water in the bread machine bucket; let stand 5 minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
On your bread machine choose the “dough” setting or the “first rise” setting. Each machine is a little different, so refer to your manual.

Let the bread machine do its thing and then when the cycle is finished remove the dough.
Divide dough into 4 or 5 equal pieces.
Take each piece of dough and pull down the sides toward the bottom to create a smooth top. Place the dough, seam side down, on a clean work surface. Place the palm of your hand over top and roll in a circular motion, keeping the seam side down to seal.
Transfer the rolls to a parchment lined baking sheet and let rise for another 45 minutes, until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 400ºF.
Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Cool on a wire rack before cutting tops off.
