Hi! I’m Briton from Rad Mom Cool Kid, a family lifestyle blog where I share food, home, and travel tips for families! I’m excited to share a fun and easy treat with you today to help kids learn about the layers of the Earth. My kids love hands-on lessons and they REALLY love hands-on lessons when there is chocolate involved!
Before we get to the treats, lets talk about the layers of the Earth. In very basic terms there are 4 layers:
Inner Core – solid
Outer Core – liquid
Mantle – liquid (this liquid is much thicker than the outer core)
Crust – solid
To recreate the different layers of the Earth in treat form you’ll need:
Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – Inner Core
Chocolate Pudding – Outer Core
Chocolate Hazelnut Spread – Mantle
Crushed Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – Crust
We layered our treats in clear jars so we could see everything but feel free to make them in any bowl or cup you have around. We couldn’t wait so we made and ate ours while the pudding was still warm. If you can wait, chill your treat after layering it to give the pudding a chance to soften the cookie “core.” Several hours or overnight will do the trick!
