This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of IKEA and the Mom It Forward Blogger Network. I have been compensated for this post but all words and opinions are 100% mine.

I am so excited to do my follow up from last’s week’s post I shared with you on IKEA and the first 59 challenge that was given to me! I had so much fun looking at all of the IKEA organizing possibilities and I found solutions that have already made a big difference to my routine. From talking to a lot of my friends I have been told in the past that they can be overwhelmed by the vast amount of possibilities available and that is why I would suggest this to you: START online. Did you know you can make a shopping list from IKEA’s website that you can print out and bring with you? That way if you want to skip “the tour” and get down to business you can take that list to an IKEA associate and they can help you find exactly what you’re looking for fast.

Because I had already checked out the First 59 items online I knew exactly what I was looking for. The whole goal of the First 59 inititive is to make the first hour of our day run more smoothly. My two goals were for laying out an outfit the night before with the kids and being more organized so I could actually find the things that I use on a daily basis.

My List:

Organization dividers for my bathroom

Hooks that could go in the kids rooms that wouldn’t be in the way

This is what I came up with:

For my Face products and make up:

I was pleasantly surprised with how much space was able to be used in my drawers because this divider is made to maximize a deep space. I can actually find those tubes of lip gloss and eye shadow I thought I had lost a long time ago! I also like that it keeps all of my “face stuff” in one place for putting make up on and taking make up off.

This top drawer was the one that needed the biggest overhaul as it had tons of random things in it before. I don’t wear a lot of make up on a day to day basis so it was nice to make room for my husband to keep things in the top drawer as well. He asked if he got a whole drawer…which the answer was no….but he has a lot more space than he once did! 🙂

I especially like the fact that I can get to the items quick and see where everything is at a glance.

space even more (where they actually slide along little inside liners), but I found that they worked fine for my regular drawers as well.

For my “extras” and organizing hair products.

Hair products are always getting spread around and I wish I would have shown you what this looked like before, it was such a tangled mess. This bin only cost a few dollars and made such a difference in dividing this deep space into a way that I can actually see my hair products and curling irons: WIN. I am really happy about this.

I am so happy with the end result! The plants are actually from IKEA as well, but I already had them on hand. I also  grabbed a couple extra bins to store our “extras” of things that I don’t use every day or things that we buy extra of to have on hand.

My next challenge was creating a space that was specifically for the daily outfit to be laid out the night before. I didn’t necessarily want a row of hooks because I wanted it to be in a hidden space but not in the closet. I decided to buy this set of hooks that I could just put behind each kids’ door so that they could pick out their outfit with me the night before and it would be an easy place for them to reach.

Hooks for the kids’ rooms behind the door:

They were both really excited about their new “secret” hooks that were behind the door where they could be ready to go the next morning and so far it has made the morning go so much more smoothly! No more rushing around wondering what they will wear for the day.

As you can tell Jayne was REALLY excited! 🙂

So here are my 6 tips for organizing your bathroom:

1. Use products that you can SEE the products you like to use on a day to day basis. I find that clear or white work best.

2. Organize by type: Keep makeup, face products, hair products separated.

3. Get rid of the junk. I got rid of a lot of products that I was hanging onto that I thought I would use but never got around to using. Donate or throw away.

4. Once a month go through your drawers and get rid of the things that don’t belong there.

5. One is enough: if you have extras put them somewhere separate so they aren’t blocking you from the things you need every day.

6. Invest in organizers that will LAST. I have made the mistake of buying organizers in the past that break easily or aren’t made well.

My next challenge? JEWELRY. It’s a HOT mess.
