Thanksgiving Point’s Museum of Natural Curiosity

Do you ever wish you could float back in time, and experience something as you would have when you were younger? I do.

The new children’s museum at Thanksgiving Point, is one of those places!  It is set to open on May 15th, and I just can’t wait to show this place to all of my friends, young and old.  I’ve been able to watch this building under construction from the very beginning, because my building maintenance company, RBM Services, maintains Thanksgiving Point.  It is quite a job to manage clean up there, after every event, day after day, week after week, and year after year.  There are always events and amazing things going on there.  I big thanks to our RBM team that makes this happen!

And now, even better, I get to help raise money to build the facility for all of the kids in Utah to enjoy.  I’ve always wanted to build a children’s museum, and this is the closest I’ll ever get.  Each time I visit the museum, it gets better and better.  There are so many talented people behind the project that have done their homework, to bring a world class museum to you.  We will be holding the United Way of Utah County, gala inside the museum, in just a week!

Okay, enough back story – let’s take an updated look inside!  First off, the kiddos and the parent’s have two separate entrances – just their size!

There is a gigantic monkey head in the middle of the museum.  It is HUGE and I can never stop staring at it.  Behind this head, there is a maze of adventures going on.  We could use the words HUMONGOUS spider web, behind the waterfall and chamber of courage!  Just you wait to test your fears!  One thing I love is that they have made the museum interesting for kids of ALL ages!  And, there is no way you could experience it all in one trip.  There are so many nooks and crannies that hold fun things to experience.

This beautiful tile work is in the middle of a rotunda.  In the gala I am planning for next week, I plan on having a harpist sitting right here in the center.  It is Kenneth Cope’s daughter, and I hear she is unbelievable!  Barbara Barrington Jones recommended her, and I can’t wait to hear her!

Inside of Kidopolis, there are many buildings that you would find in a little town.   The picture below is of the music studio.  The kids get a lot of hands on play time with lots of high tech equipment, made just for them.

Record your key tree story, is a place where you get to bring your key (on the metal tree pictured above) and record a story of you doing service to someone.  They will hang the key for you, and your key will hang with hundreds of others for all to see!

tgpkids2tgp3Hopefully, I will have a lot more pictures next week – and we plan on doing a private tour for some lucky bloggers in the community.  If you’d like to be a part of this, I’ll be setting it up soon!  If you are interested, let me know.  It is sure to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get in there before anyone else, and check it out!  If you have a blog that you would believe would be a good fit, send me (Janae Moss) an email at [email protected] and I will get your blog information and send you an application to apply.  For everyone else, the museum will be open May 15th, 2014!

Have a great week!
