Adventure Nursery Inspiration

It is a little hard to believe that I am already 23 weeks along and getting closer to having three children every day. There are certainly days that I feel like my 3rd will be my last with the type of tantrums my 2 year old has been pulling. Oy! Got to love that little girl. Feeling so very grateful that the baby is growing and is healthy. You appreciate things like that in a different way when you have lost little ones you have dreamed about. Here is my most recent picture of the belly, I promise to get a better one soon, but for now this will have to suffice.

 How far along?  23 Weeks
Maternity Clothes? Yes indeed. I have come to love maxi skirts and actually found a couple of inexpensive pairs of maternity shorts that fit the bill from Ross!
Sleep: Last night I dreamt about an evil clown high jacking an airplane with everyone I know and love in it with plans to blow it up. If that isn’t a crazy, twisted dream I don’t know what is!
Best moment this week:  Hearing Jackson pray for his little brother and I think Jayne might even be cluing in to her little baby brother inside. She loves to point to her own belly and say she has a baby in there.
Miss Anything?  Working out. It has been too hot to walk outside but I am thankful he’s healthy.
Movement:  Absolutely. I feel this little guy all day long.
Food cravings:  This week? Ha ha, it changes all the time. I would say this week it was regrettably French fries from Red Robin. They just know how to make them don’t they!
Anything making you queasy or sick?  Nope!
Have you started to show yet?  Yes, the third time around has definitely made the popping out happen a lot sooner!
Gender:  BOY!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In and out
Weddings rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Mostly happy although Jayne’s tantrums have been grating at my nerves and the ant attack I currently have in my kitchen.
Looking forward to:  Going to the lake tomorrow with the fam. My Mother is against letting me even get on the boat but MAYBE if it is perfectly smooth she’ll let me go for a short ride. Funny to have to beg my Mother for something like that as a grown woman. Ha ha.

Notice how I conveniently cut off my head for the picture! 🙂

Now on to my nursery inspiration. Lately I have been so inspired by the idea of having a “little adventurer” nursery theme. Think: airplanes, world maps, binoculars, animals, and nature based textures and fabrics. I have a few things from around the house that I am already thinking would fit quite well into the space but there are a few things I would need to finish the look I am going for. I used a new computer program conveniently available from www.olioboard.com (thanks to the lovely ladies at www.frysauceandgrits.com) which allows you to create your own inspiration board. They already have a lot of items already logged into their system, but you can upload and create the items you want for your board as well. I am really liking the color combo of burnt orange, navy blue, and gray. Some of the pieces in this inspiration board I already have, but I thought I would give you an idea of what I am thinking.

What’s neat is you can actually go to my board found HERE and see where all of these items are from and how much they cost. Yes, I entered almost all of them and you’re welcome. I am especially in love with the three printables I found from etsy that would tie the space together so well! These prints can be found HERE (every little thing), HERE (adventure awaits), and HERE (you are my greatest adventure.)

I tried to keep everything extremely affordable. The crib is from Walmart. this is actually an item I already have but wanted to find one similar to the one I bought 6 years ago! The rug is from Target, and the dresser is from IKEA.  The globe mobile and map are from amazon.com and the curtains are completely overpriced (I will probably make my own.) Again, if you want all of the direct links you can go to my board I created and find the direct link.

Something you may not have noticed are the triangles in the background of the inspiration board. This is actually how I am going to make one of the accent walls in the nursery! I will tell you more about this later as I am hoping to accomplish this task in the next couple of days (wish me luck).

Here are a few more boards that I found that inspired me: from Laybabylay

I also really liked this from Apartment Therapy

Or this nursery from Oh Sweet Joy

Next up? I get to pick out bedding and fabric to make into a quilt. (My amazing Mother makes a baby quilt for each of the grand babies, I am very lucky.) If you know of any that you think would look great in my nursery please let me know! If you want to view my full nursery inspiration page you can see that here.
